Excellent care can help you getting the smell out of your athletic wear, prolong their lifespan and upkeep the outer appearance. Here at SKULPT we would like to emphasize tips and tricks on how to take care of your athleisure wear properly.
-
Use some salt
When you wash your athleisure wear for the first time, we strongly suggest you do it with some salt (about a table spoon). Salt comprises of chloride and it fastens the colors to the fabric material. Because of this trick, your active wear will preserve the original color for a longer time. In addition to that, if you use salt to clean your active wear, it can help remove stubborn stains including bloodstains.
-
Prefer hand washing your athleisure wear
We recommend that you to hand wash your athleisure wear. However machine washing is fine only IF washed at COLD. While it is true that athleisure wear is usually durable compared to regular clothing, repeated machine washing can breakdown the material quicker and shorten its lifespan.
-
Wash them as soon as possible
Assuring the optimal cleanliness and getting the smell out of your athletic wear are the main purposes of washing them. The unpleasant smell of your active wear occur mainly due to the growth of bacteria with the assistance of swear and dead skin cells. If you keep your athleisure wear uncleaned with other clothing for a long period, the smell (bacteria) can transfer to other cloths and accessories. So be sure to do your yoga pant cleaning as quick as possible after each session.
Ideally you should add a cap full of white vinegar into the fabric compartment of the drawer to kill the bacteria & odour.
Do not use Liquid 'tabs'. They won't melt at low temperatures, ideally use a bleach free detergent.
When washing keep separate from other fabrics such as velcro, towels that will damage the clothing in the machine. As with all clothing items - separate light & dark colours, even if both are athleisure wear.
-
DO NOT use fabric conditioner
- Use Cold Water
To get optimal use and lifespan out of your athleisure wear you should wash them in cold water. Warm water will just help the fabric disintegrate - in many cases modern athleisure is made from recycled plastic bottles. Think about it - If you put that bottle in warm water it would melt!
Try & remember to turn the items inside out before washing them. Protects nicks from the washing machine drum.
- Do not tumble dry
