Cashmere Care

WASH GARMENTS AT HOME FOR THE SOFTEST CASHMERE

We advise against dry cleaning your cashmere. For the best results, hand wash your cashmere using a gentle baby shampoo or specialist cashmere wash. Soak in lukewarm water for at least 10 minutes, then gently swirl your knitwear around. Avoid excessive pulling to maintain its shape and softness.

KEEP YOUR CASHMERE IN SHAPE WHILE IT DRIES.

After washing gently squeeze out the excess water - NEVER wring or twist! Arrange the garment into its proper shape and wrap your cashmere in a towel to get rid of excess water. Unwrap and leave to dry on a flat surface with a towel underneath it.

DEAL WITH PILLING USING A COMB/Electric De-Piller

Pilling on cashmere is neither a sign of poor quality nor a design fault. Pilling is a natural characteristic of the yarn and can be easily removed using a good quality cashmere comb or machine (we recommend the Philips). Be gentle and do not de-pill more than necessary as damage can occur to your garment is you excessively de-pill it. Once pilling has been removed after a few washes, you will notice the garment becomes softer to handle and will pill less. When cared for, cashmere actually improves with age.

STORAGE

Try to keep your cashmere clean while in storage. Moths just LOVE cashmere. We always recommend washing you cashmere before you put it away for the season. You could also try putting some rosemary, lavender or cedar balls in beside your garments as a natural deterrent. Another tip is to fold and store your cashmere in a cotton dust bag or pillow case. Do not use hangers as they can disfigure your knitwear.
